Loreto Toorak offers a range of scholarships that foster and promote academic excellence in a community that seeks to educate the whole person. Scholarships are awarded annually to support students who are motivated to learn, strive to achieve their best, and embody the Loreto values.
The Scholarship Program is open to prospective students.
Scholarships apply to tuition fees; all criteria are clearly outlined in the Scholarship Agreement.
Our scholarships are referred to as Endeavour and Open Circle Scholarships.

Open Circle Scholarships
The Open Circle Scholarships are awarded to aspirational and talented candidates who seek a Loreto education, but financial constraints would otherwise limit their access to a place at the School.
Each scholarship has specific criteria awarded on merit and is means-tested.
These scholarships are available to prospective students.
Alumnae General Academic Scholarship (Means Tested) – Year 7
This scholarship is only available to prospective students.
Candidates will have a Mother who has been a past student of a Loreto school and will demonstrate strong academic ability through the Edutest testing process. Interviews will be conducted as part of the selection process for shortlisted candidates.
Candidates must provide supporting evidence of their ability to contribute to the life of the school.
Scholarships will provide partial remission of tuition fees until the end of Year 12, subject to the student maintaining a high standard in her studies and a positive contribution to school life.
All Open Circle Scholarships are extensively means-tested through an assessment process that includes recent Tax returns, completion of a financial questionnaire and Statutory Declaration. This scholarship provides 100% remission of tuition fees.
Interviews will be conducted as part of the selection process for shortlisted candidates.
As part of their application, all Open Circle Scholarship applicants are required to outline in less than 500 words how they can contribute to the life of the School. This response should be uploaded by selecting this link.

In honour of Jean Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan Scholarship (Means Tested) –Year 7
This scholarship is only available to prospective students.
Jean Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan nee Tutton graduated from Loreto Toorak in 1930. Betty held a deep affection for and connection with her school, often recounting stories of her time as a student and the enduring lifelong friendships that ensued. During the Second World War, at the age of 21, Betty became a widow, and in later years Betty was cared for by her sister Margaret until her death in 2003 at the age of 91. During their life, Betty and her sister Margaret remained committed to their family’s legacy of service and philanthropy.
The Jean Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan scholarship is offered in Betty’s memory and seeks to support a student who has a strong commitment to social justice and service to others. It is also seeking a recipient who is keen to engage wholeheartedly in the many opportunities that a Loreto education offers; to enhance her academic development and deep personal formation committed to a lifetime of service and works of social justice.
This Open Circle Scholarship is designed to provide a Loreto Toorak education to a student who would otherwise be unable to attend the school due to financial constraints. In honour of Elaine O’Mara Scholarship (Means Tested) – Year 7
This scholarship is only available to prospective students.
Elaine O'Mara was one of five young girls who travelled from Queensland to Loreto Toorak in the mid 1930s. She was an extraordinary pianist.
Elaine loved the Mary Ward ethos of Loreto, and her three daughters were educated at Loreto Coorparoo. She modelled Verity, Loyalty and Joy to all she had the pleasure to meet.
Elaine always celebrated the value of education, which importantly included co-curricular activities. She was a shining light of love and devotion for her five children.

In honour of Sr Ruth Winship Scholarship (Means Tested) – Year 10
This scholarship is only available to prospective students.
The candidate will demonstrate a willingness to engage in the opportunities a Loreto education offers as well as a commitment to their academic studies and, through the Edutest examination demonstrate a solid academic standing.

Supporting evidence of a student's ability to contribute to life at the School will be required with the application.
An interview will be conducted as part of the selection process for shortlisted candidates.
As part of the selection process, the family will be required to provide copies of their most recent tax return(s) and complete the financial questionnaire and accompanying Statutory Declaration. This information will assist in qualifying the candidate’s suitability for this means-tested scholarship.
